PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Dear parents, guardians and well-wishers,

Today’s Education: Our care for the common home – Mother Earth.

“Nature holds the key to our aesthetic, intellectual, cognitive and even spiritual satisfaction.” In the recent past, we had been witnessing the anger and pain of the Nature in varied forms like earthquakes, flash floods, forest fires, famines etc. To add to the natural calamities, wars and terrorist activities have led to the human casualties and immense loss of property. Now, it’s high time that we must ask ourselves: ’What has gone wrong with the environment?’ Well, the answer is crystal clear. It lies within us. We are responsible directly or indirectly, in changing the face of the nature and thus causing deforestation, pollution, global warming etc. In the name of progress and development, man has been ruthlessly plundering the natural resources and thus maimed the nature. The unequal distribution of wealth and a craze for the accumulation of sophisticated modern weapons has further deteriorated the whole ecosystem. Now is the time to wake up and bring the right form of education to save this planet and save tomorrow!

Well, dear parents and guardians, today, we need to teach our children all the more to love and respect the Mother Earth. It’s not only the school curriculum, but also the parents at home need to instill in them constantly the values by which they care the nature. Now, it’s the time to go to the fields and forests that they may admire the green flora and fauna. Now, it’s the time to sing melodies with the birds of the air. Now, it’s the time to flutter with the butterflies. Yes, it’s the time to climb the hills and go down the valleys, and drench oneself with the ice cold waters. It’s here that nature comes alive and they will experience the loving embrace of the Mother Earth.

Thus, Education today is calling us to live in peace and harmony with the nature. Our technological achievements should not lead us away from the nature, but should help us in creating a peaceful and congenial environment for all human beings. The same values emanating from the universe will lead us respect people of all faith and nations. In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.” Let us, then, listen to this clarion call and set aside all our indifferences to make education meaningful, purposeful and eco-friendly at all levels.

God Bless All.
